n the rural provinces of Gambia and Senegal, countless women face the heartbreak of repeated pregnancy loss caused by preeclampsia a severe yet treatable complication of pregnancy. Tragically, instead of receiving support or medical attention, these women are too often misunderstood and ostracized. They are branded as witches, blamed for the deaths of their unborn children, and pushed to the edges of society.

Our foundation uncovered heartbreaking stories of women like Fatoumata, who endured five unexplained pregnancy losses. With each loss, the whispers in her village grew louder, and the emotional toll deepened. Like many others, she was labeled as cursed  when in truth, she was suffering from an undiagnosed, untreated medical condition.

This case study sheds light on the intersection of health misinformation, harmful traditional beliefs, and the absence of basic maternal healthcare. Through our "Breaking the Silence" initiative, we aim to bring truth, compassion, and life-saving education to rural communities. By partnering with healthcare professionals, policy leaders, and cultural influencers, we’re transforming the narrative: from stigma and silence to knowledge and support.

Our approach combines grassroots education campaigns, documentary storytelling, and policy advocacy to change both hearts and systems. We work to introduce affordable, accessible blood pressure monitoring devices like the CRADLE VSA into community health programs, ensuring early detection and swift intervention.

No woman should lose a child  or her dignity to silence and superstition. This case study is not just an account of tragedy; it's a call to action.
